I try to put a background image for the top menu item, but it looks funny. How can I make the background image stretch so it's below the whole menu item? and how can I get rid of the separator between the menu item?

I'm not sure I understand what you mean by making the background image stretch so it's "below the whole menu item", but css has a background-repeat element you can use to repeat the background image, i.e. background-repeat: repeat-x;

To get rid of the seperator, you need to replace the text with something that doesn't show up, like a SPAN element with nothing in it.

Thanks! I fixed the separator by putting an empty span element. What I mean for the image background is like this. On every menu item, I put a buttom image as a background, when the mouse over, I swap it with another background. The problem I have is when the text of the menu item gets too long(longer than my button image. it looks funny. Too bad I cannot upload the screen shot here.

I have emailed the screen shot to inventua support. Here's the css for the menu item.

.TMenuItem A
{
 background-image: url(images/bg_img_07.jpg);
 background-repeat: no-repeat;
 color: #999999;
 font-size: 10pt;
 font-weight: bold;
 font-style: normal;
 font-family: Verdana, Arial, Helvetica;
 text-align: Center;
 vertical-align: baseline;
 text-decoration: none;
 height: 37px;
}

.TMenuItem, .TMenuItem a:link, .TMenuItem a:visited
{
 background-image: url(images/bg_img_07.jpg);
 background-repeat: no-repeat;
 color: #999999;
 font-size: 10pt;
 font-weight: bold;
 font-style: normal;
 font-family: Verdana, Arial, Helvetica;
 text-align: Center;
 vertical-align: baseline;
 text-decoration: none;
 height: 37px; /*width: 93px; */
}

I have not received a screenshot from you - but if you need the ability to have your background dynamically size to your menu items, you need to use background-repeat: repeat-x.

Something strange happens to my top menu. I am sure everything works fine last Friday, but this Monday morning, when I login my dotnetnuke and try to work on my topmenu, the background image disappear. I apply the default container, the background image of the menu item shows up, but when I apply it to my container, the background image disppears.

My container:

Does the container you are using specify any background properties at all?

No. This is the code for the container.

Your container post doesn't work in the forums. Can you email your container code to support@inventua.com?
