Issue 1 = I am getting the "Cannot find server" - error message after I attempt to upload a quicktime file using the Inventua Quicktime Player interface.

Any advice?

The installation of the module seem to proceed without a problem.  The version installed was the latest downloaded from  4/18/2006 for DNN 4.0.

I clicked in the Quicktime Options, in movie "Upload New File", Browse for and select the file from my computer, then click on "Upload Selected File."  After a long wait while the module attempts to upload the file, I get the error message.

Issue 2 = Please advise.  I tried uploading the quicktime file from the regular DotNetNuke File Manager but I am getting  an error  "Is A Restricted File Type. Valid File Types Include (*.swf, *.jpg, *.jpeg, *.jpe, *.gif, *.bmp, *.png, *.doc, *.xls, *.ppt, *.pdf, *.txt, *.xml, *.xsl, *.css, *.zip ). Please Contact Your Hosting Provider If You Need To Upload A File Type Which Is Not Supported."

Shouldn't this quicktime module have changed the media provider file to include the *.mov file type and other file types (mp4) that Quicktime supports.  It would be great to be able to use the DotNetNuke File Manager with the install of the Quicktime player module.

Hi Adrian,

Both problems should be solved by adding the "mov" file type to the "allowed" list in the host settings page.

Thanks. Got the new file types in the host settings page.
Also got some .mov files uploaded. However, got 2 more issues:

1) No sound came out from the .mov file. This is the link.

2) For larger .mov files approaching 5MB and larger, uploading either thru the Inventua Quicktime upload interface or the portal File Manager fails.

Is there a file size limit parameter somewhere?

The error message is unknown displayed on page as follows:

Server Error in '/DotNet' Application.

Runtime Error
Description: An application error occurred on the server. The current custom error settings for this application prevent the details of the application error from being viewed remotely (for security reasons). It could, however, be viewed by browsers running on the local server machine.

Details: To enable the details of this specific error message to be viewable on remote machines, please create a tag within a "web.config" configuration file located in the root directory of the current web application. This tag should then have its "mode" attribute set to "Off".

Notes: The current error page you are seeing can be replaced by a custom error page by modifying the "defaultRedirect" attribute of the application's configuration tag to point to a custom error page URL.

Hi Adrian,

The sound problem is probably caused by the "play every frame" option.  The Quicktime player often seems to act weird when you turn that on, and for normal videos you generally wouldn't want it on anyway.

The large uploads problem is because you are hitting the ASP.NET request size limit.  See for instructions on how to change the limit.
