Hi
I think it better for us to make the conversation about the issue here so people can read learn and maybe help.

Here are the mails we had :

******************************

Sure. There are several modules for the UCanUSe :

UCanUse.Core - version : version - 01.05.02
UCanUse.UserAttributes : version - 02.06.02
UCanUse.UserManager  : version 01.00.00

Thanks

Lior

Hi Lior,

Can you please tell me which version of the UCanUse module you are using?  I need to know so I can test with exactly the same setup as you.  It might also be worth making sure you have the latest version from the developer, as a newer version may already fix the problem.

Hi
I been waiting to hear from you, hope you can help me out because I am stuck with this issue. I would love to give you any help you need to solve this issue.
What I use :
1. On source portal - DNN 3.2.2 - buildportal.com - I use UCanUse module.
2. On targer portal - DNN 4_3_4  - buildportal2.com - I use the default DNN user accounts.

The UCanUSe mosule is  a very common user accounts module. What info do you need regarding the this module ?

Thank You for helping
Lior

Hi Lior,

I suspect that the problem may be happening because you are using a custom signup/account management module on www.buildportal.com, and it is not populating one or more profile/membership fields that are required by DNN 4.3.4.  I can work around the issue by modifying the PassThroughTarget module - but will need to identify exactly what is causing the problem.  Can you tell me which custom signup module you are using, and provide details on how it is configured (so I can try to reproduce the problem in my test environment).

PS:  Yes, we have a support forum on www.inventua.com (the forums link is in the menu to the left of the page).

Hi

I thought you are sending me a new version. The version you sent me I have already tested 1 week ago. It didnt work and gave exactly the same problem. The module is stuck on the target page on the target site on the page that holds the inventua target module, without logging the user in, and without redirecting to the target page.

The tests I did :
1. current user which is on portal 1 and not on portal 2:
the user is logged in ok, but when trying to create a new portal on the destination site there is some problem with the user that was created, and you get :
*******
Your User Account Could not be created, make sure your password conforms to the standards or contact support.
*******

2. current user which is both on portal 1 and 2
Not logged in - error :

Dont you have a forum where we can post all of these issues and keep track on things ?
Can you fix these issues - I am having this problem for more then a month.

I can give you a test environment with my 2 dedicated servers:
1. buildportal.com - DNN 3_2_2
2. buildportal2.com - DNN 4_3_4

After logging in to server 1, go to the portal creation page, and on the bottom you will see a link that connects you to portal 2.

Waiting for your reply

Lior

Are you passing users from your DNN 3.2.2 site to your DNN 4.3.4 site, or the other way around?  With the new version I sent you, pass-throughs from 3.2.2 to 4.3.4 are working Ok for me here in test (with a new install of DNN 4.3.4).

Are you now trying to "pass-through" a user from DNN 4.3.4 to a child portal, also in 4.3.4?  I had been testing 3.2.2 -> DNN 4.3.4.  Please let me know, so I can test the same scenario that you are using.

Hi
I tried to test the new module by installing it to the target site.
Logged in with a current user for portal 1, moved to portal 2 using the module and got an error on the target site:

Hi Lior,

Here's the update.  It should fix the users if they login and "pass through" again (that's what happened in my test cases).

Please let me know how you go.

Hi
The thing is that it ruined the users - it is not possible to login with them, or access the users admin from Admin menu.
Please send me the fix.
Lior

At 10 Aug 2006 4:24 PM a message was posted to a thread you were tracking on the Inventua Forums at http://www.inventua.com/forums.content:

RE: PassThrough and DNN 4_3_4, posted by anthony.glenwright

Hi Lior,

Due to some changes in the core, the PassThroughTarget module had an issue setting the user's firstname/lastname (actually all profile properties) and therefore left them blank - in DNN 3.3 and 4.3. I've created a new test version - email me at support@inventua.com and I'll send it to you.

The problem in the user accounts screen will be fixed by using the new version of PassThroughTarget to "pass through" the affected users again. Alternatively you can manually edit the Users table, and set a value for the firstname/lastname properties of the affected users.

Hi Lior,

I've been in touch with UCanUse support & am waiting for them to provide demo versions of the products you are using so I can test with them.

********************

Hi Anthony,

I hope they will agree to provide such demo versions. The PassThrough module is currently the only thing missing for me to open the new buildportal2.com site.
If they can't provide you wil the modules, maybe you can try it on my server ? I have a test site with DNN 3_2_2 that got this module on it.

Lior
