I have a need to fill the description dropdownlist with rows from custom DB tables.

Would you consider adding the ability to execute a SQL statement to fill the dropdownlist?

thanks,

Steve

Sort answer: I haven't decided yet. The vision for the PayPal module is for it to be "simple" - and not overlap too much on what the online store modules like Catalook are for. So I am concerned that adding a feature like this would then lead to requests for a kind of product catalog with descriptions, prices, etc...

If you can give me some background on what you are trying to achieve, it would help.

I run an archaeology website where archaeologists 'own' a tab which represents a dig. People can donate money to each dig by using your module on a tab which is set against an overall target budget. However, the archaeologists want to split their overall target budget into smaller budgets but still be able to calculate the overall donations. That means I have a one to many relationship between a Tab and its budgets.

Each budget has a title, a tabid and a target held in a separate table. I could hardcode each part of the overall budget into the dropdown list but that would waste too much time. I simply want to select from the budgets table per TabID and get the BudgetName and add it to the dropdownlist.

If you don't see this going into the next release would you consider a custom build?

thanks,

Steve

Just an idea: Maybe we could write a quick program (or just SQL) to automatically read the data out of the table and update the field that stores the descriptions in the PayPal module? Would it be possible to add a ModuleID to your table? If so, it would be a relatively simple SQL statement...
