Inventua Google Search Module

The Inventua Google Search Module for DotNetNuke adds a web or site search to your web portal, powered by Google.

Google Search is Free!
Google Search is available at no cost.  Most of Inventua's DNN modules are available on a try before you buy basis. You can download them freely from Inventua, and try them out for as long as you like. If you are happy with the product, you can buy it at SnowCovered

Installation
The installation zip file is configured as a DotNetNuke Private Assembly. To install Inventua DNN Google Search to your DNN portal, log in as the DNN host user "host" and use the DNN Module Definitions page to upload the module.

Compatibility
This module has two versions, one for DNN version 2.1.2. and another for DNN versions 3.x-4.x.

Microsoft Windows: Internet Explorer, Firefox, Mozilla.
Apple OS X: Safari, Mozilla, Netscape, Opera.

Configuration Options
Once you create a Google Search instance, select the Options menu item from the module settings menu to display the Options page.

Mode The Google search module can use the Google Free search service, or can use the Google custom search engine service. Use the mode setting to select which one to use.
Google URL Enter the URL to use for Google searches. For most sites, this will be www.google.com, but you can change the URL to your local Google URL if you want to control what region's server gets used (for example, use www.google.co.uk)
Graphic Select the Google graphic you want to use.
* By default, the Google graphic is served from the Google website.  If you need to use a graphic from your portal environment (for example, if your portal is in a secured environment), you can save a graphic with the same name as the one you select here in your DotNetNuke DesktopModules/Inventua - GoogleSearch folder, and the graphic will be served from that location.
Search Button Text Enter the text to display in the search button.
Textbox Size Enter the size of the search terms textbox, in characters.
Custom Search Engine Settings
Google custom search ID

If you are using the Google custom search engine service, enter your custom search ID.  Once you have created a custom search engine using the Google website, you can get your custom search ID from the Custom Search Engine management pages at http://google.com/coop/manage/cse/ - click "Control Panel", "Code", then view the "Advanced search results control using AJAX search API" section to display your ID.

Free Search Settings
Search Scope Specifies either "web" for the entire internet, or "Specific site" to limit search results to those entered in the Domain attribute.
Google Safe Search When SafeSearch is turned on, sites and web pages containing pornography and explicit content are blocked from search results.
User selection When switched on, a "this site only" checkbox is displayed that the user can select to limit the search results to the domains selected in the domain property.  Use the search scope selection to set the default value of the checkbox.
Domain Enter a domain name to restrict search results to.  This setting works in conjunction with the Search Scope and User Selection settings.

Google search results are supplied by Google's "Google Free" search service. Before you use this module, you must ensure that you comply with Google's terms of service and registration requirements.

Using QueryString items to control Google Search
If you pass querystring values matching the Google Module's attribute names to a page, Google Search will use the values you pass.  For example, you could use the URL http://yoursite.com?user-scope=true;domain=somesite.com to display the Google Search with a "this site only" checkbox.
