I believe the sidemenu is failing validation but I cannot get to the code. It might be in the dll.

According to W3C, the javascript tag is missing the "Type" declaration.

Can someone please help out? Maybe recompile with this teeny tiny change? =O)

Regards

The sidemenu is on our products page (http://www.inventua.com/dnn-downloadshome.content), which validates successfully as XHTML 1.0 Strict.

PS: Well, it validates with two errors, but they are caused by DNN, and we can't fix them... Anyway, nothing caused by the sidemenu is my point...

Thank you for responding. You can see from the code below why I thought the problem is with the sidemenu. So this is from DNN? Go figure.

  1. [script removed]
  2. var previousSelection;
  3. var previousSelectionNormal;
  4. function selectmenuitem(which, toggle, statusdescription, Normalcssclass, highlightcssclass)
  5. {
  6. if (toggle==true)
  7. {
  8. if (previousSelection != null)
  9. previousSelection.className=previousSelectionNormal;
  10. which.className=highlightcssclass;
  11. previousSelection=which;
  12. previousSelectionNormal=Normalcssclass;
  13. }
  14. else
  15. which.className=previousSelectionNormal;
  16. window.status=statusdescription;
  17. return true;
  18. }
  19.
  20. [script removed]

With all due respect, I hear what you are saying but evidence leads otherwise. Bear with me.

After reviewing every java script block in the source for the page in question, the only block that does not have the "type" declaration is the block with the sidemenu code in it. Further, if I remove the sidemenu the page validates.

Can you understand how overwhelming that is?

To clarify, I am using sidemenu v5.0.2. DNN 5.6.4 and attemptimg to vaslidate XHTML 1.0

Regards

No, that is from the sidemenu. But in the current version, the script tag has type="text/javascript". Are you using an old version?

You can download the current version that corresponds to your DNN version from http://www.inventua.com/sidemenu-overview.content

Nevermind I guess. The rabbit hole must go deeper than my understanding.

Ok, now I am confused. I say I have v5.0.2 and you say no that is from the sidemenu and to download the current version. huh?

Well, just to rule out any weird posibilities I reinstalled the same version I had originally which happens to be the latest v5.0.2 for DNN5. Still no luck.

I checked both DLL's and they are up to date.

Inventua.DNN.Modules.Shared50.dll > DNN5
Inventua.DNN.SideMenu.dll > v5.0.2.0

Are you using the topmenu module at all? It has some similar code in it.
