I'm upgrading DotNetNuke on a couple portals that use TopMenu.  We are going from DNN 4.4.1 to 4.8.1.  I am running TopMenu 3.0.4 on the original site, and have upgraded to TopMenu 3.0.5 on the upgraded site.

TopMenu (both 3.0.4 and 3.0.5) has broken with the DNN 4.8.1 upgrade.  The Host and Admin menu items now redirect to the home tab.  They used to go to a blank page where the administrators could access admin pages using Si.

Please advise.  I've got pressure on me to get this resolved.

Thank you,
-Robert B.

It sounds like the upgrade has reverted the home/admin tabs back to "disabled" (this is the default - they are setup as disabled because they are just "parent" pages with no content). If you do whatever you did before (which was probably manipulating the data via SQL) to set them back to enabled, it should work ok for you. I doubt this has anything to do directly with the topmenu.

You were right.  The setting was in the "Tabs" table "DisableLink" column.  The DNN upgrade must have reset the values for the Admin and Host tabs to True.  I manually changed to False and the tabs work again.

Thanks,
-Robert

I just checked my table and the Host and Admin menu are set to "DisableLink" = True however they do show up in the menu. Is there a way to not show them without changing my table values?

Just to clarify the last post, I don't want them to show up even if logged in as host or admin.

In the topmenu settings, do you have IgnoreDisabled switched on? It should be "false" if you don't want to display disabled pages.

It doesn't seem to matter. I have checked it and unchecked it and the admin and host show up in both cases.  I want them not to show up.

Just a note, they don't show up when I am not logged in as expected and they do show up when I am logged in. I am looking for a way to not show them even if logged in as host. I know its a strange request but the extra couple of menu items stretches the page and this client has host access and can't seem to get past the page not looking the same as when they are not logged in.

It looks like DNN is "interpreting" (changing) the values from the database as they are read in to DNN, there's probably some perfectly valid logic to this, but it is not suiting your requirement.

I have added in a "Exclude admin menus" option for the topmenu module so you can do what you need. Please email me at support@inventua.com (reference this post), and I will send you an updated module to test.

Anthony,

I see in this previous post you added an exclude Admin for the top menu, is there a way you can add that for the sidemenu as well?

It makes sense for the topmenu, because those links don't work - but why do you want it for the sidemenu?
